Details about post-tournament publicity

Share any tournament photo on social media and/or submit a press release to the sports editor(s) of the local newspaper(s) announcing the results w/photo for publicity. Pitchers enjoy seeing their names (and photos) in the local newspapers. One pitcher who pitched in her first tournament got her name and photo the next day in the sports section of the local paper; her uncle saw it and called her.
In addition to being a TD, I was the editor for the Idaho SHPA "Four Dead" newsletter from 2013 - 2024. I liked to include photos of the tournament participants and/or photos of each class placers, etc. Many state horseshoe charters have Facebook sites, so posting photos there is worthwhile. If your state charter has a newsletter, the editor may appreciate a photo to include in the newsletter.

The Fall 2025 issue of the ISHPA "Four Dead" newsletter has an article written by me on page 4 entitled "Promoting Pitching" that demonstrates how I promote my local tournaments with some outcomes from the newspaper publicity.
