Details about Registering Pitchers
As you register each pitcher, collect their registration fee and mark them paid. Hand them their round robin card or player sheet so they know their class and which courts they pitch on.
One thing I do when I have a new pitcher in my tournaments is to use the horseshoe gauge to check if their horseshoe has legal dimensions.
I do this to demonstrate that this is an NHPA-sanctioned tournament and they would want to know if their shoe was not legal.
Once I measured a pair of shoes that were very worn, bought at a yard sale by a pitcher new to the sport. The shoe brand was sanctioned, but when I measured the distance between the hooks in the heel calks,
the distance on one shoe was too wide. Not by much, but too wide. I showed the pitcher the clearance and said I would let him pitch in this tournament,
but I warned him that if he pitched in a state or World tournament where there was a shoe check, his shoe would fail and he likely could not play with those shoes.
